Children can travel even if you are unable to accompany them. For all of these cases, Renfe provides an unaccompanied minor service, which allows children aged 6 to 13 (both inclusive) to travel without an adult and under the supervision of on-board staff.
You can ask this service by contacting us or at the train station at least 48 hours before the train departure time.
Please keep in mind that this service is only available for Premium and Elige Comfort passengers on most AVE (high-speed) and Larga Distancia (Long Distance) trains, with a maximum of 4 minors per train and provided that the arrival at destination is no later than 10:00 p.m.
On the day of the trip, you must arrive at the station at least 45 minutes in advance because the mother, father, or legal representative must fill out a form in order for us to provide the service with all guarantees.
Unaccompanied minors traveling alone are not permitted to purchase any products onboard unless expressly authorized. If you want a children's or other menu that Renfe offers, you can request it when you buy your ticket.
